A San Francisco Branch tradition! The Asilomar Weekend is a magical weekend held annually at the Asilomar Conference Grounds, a national Historic Landmark on the spectacular Monterey Peninsula, California.
Held in either October or November, the Asilomar Weekend starts with an informal dance on Friday night, classes during the day and a formal ball in the historic Julia Morgan designed Merrill Hall on Saturday. The weekend finishes with classes on Sunday. Whether you are a dancer with one year of dance experience or you are a non-dancer, you are encouraged to attend and experience the charm of Asilomar and dancing.
Save the Date!
Next year's Asilomar Weekend will be held on November 17-19, 2017
The 2017 event promises to be a wonderful weekend of dance.

The Valentine's Day Ball is a gala event held annually at the Scottish Rite Center on Lake Merritt in Oakland. The dress is formal and the occasion festive. Starting with a Sherry Social and finishing with a Midnight Supper, it's the perfect way to anticipate the return of Spring.
The ball is recommended for dancers with one year of experience of Scottish Country dancing (those with less experience should confer with their teachers).
The Annual Jean Patrick Memorial Dance is held in conjunction with the Highland Gathering and Games held in Pleasanton on Labor Day weekend. The online flyer can be found here: Online Flyer
Hosted by the Santa Rosa class, this is a lively annual event honoring this year's new dancers and enjoyed by all who have attended over the years. Please come and encourage the new dancers in your class to come. Join us for a delightful evening of Scottish dancing followed by an after-ball buffet, and maybe stay over to enjoy some of the wonderful things Sonoma County has to offer!
Many RSCDS-SF members were introduced to Scottish Country Dancing at a Clan Gathering or Highland Games. These festive events are held throughout the world and throughout the Bay Area. They are fun for the whole family and often include demonstrations of Scottish dancing. Bay Area events include the San Francisco Free Folk Festival and Campbell Highland Games in June, the Oakland Scottish Games at Dunsmuir House and Gardens in July, the Monterey Scottish Games in August, and the San Francisco Caledonian Club Highland Games in September (Labor Day weekend) at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton.
